The Seribu Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is seen repairing the collapsed breakwater after being hit by high tide on the north side of RT 01/02, Kelapa Island, North Seribu Islands.
The work progress has touched 15 meters
Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Hendri said the breakwater repair was carried out by reassembling the collapsed hollow cubes using nylon rope.
"These massive cubes have been falling since last October. We put them back together and tied them with slings, thus they are strong enough to withstand sea waves," he expressed, Thursday (11/9).
Breakwater on North Side of Panggang Island Being RepairedHe explained the cube installation involved six personnel equipped with one unit of heavy equipment. The breakwater along 127 meters will be completed in the forthcoming December 2023.
"The work progress has touched 15 meters. Hopefully, it can protect the island from abrasion," he stated.
